Daring Tales of a Determined Woman

Daring Tales of Determined Women are what I write.

Daring Tales of a Determined Woman are what I live.

Why not write a blog about that?

I’ve come to realize that even though the characters in my books are considerably different than I am, and are looking for different things out of life, we’re also very much the same kind of women. I’m not a rock and roll groupie like the twenty somethings in my Girls of Glam Rock books, and never was. Nor am I any of the females in my short story series, Women Like Us. But like any writer, my characters are all little pieces of me, and as I’ve stated before in my blogs, they allow me to live lives that I wouldn’t live otherwise. Is it fun? Yeah. Is my real life fun? You bet. Is yours? Hope so. If not, maybe I can offer some inspiration!

Grand Canyon

Pay no attention to that woman in the picture. Just clowning above the Grand Canyon recently!

My intention is to blog about my life and my beliefs, and through those, the issues and concerns of real world women determined to make the most of their lives. My hope is that both men and women will be interested in reading what I have to say. I don’t want to leave anyone out, but let me make a few things clear here.

When I use terms like “determined” and “adventurous” I mean just that. Determined to live my life as I see fit, seeking adventures in the great outdoors that exceed my level of comfort every now and then. Please don’t take those words and turn them into something that they aren’t meant to be. The world has enough people talking in innuendos. I’m not one of them. And I’m not blogging to find a boyfriend, nor am I here to try to impress anyone. Sorry.

You will never see me with my rear end hanging out of a bathing suit, or trying to look sexy to get followers. I’ll leave that to the Kardashians and the Jenners of the world. There are plenty of them. Too many of them, for that matter. It does something to me to really be enjoying someone’s Instagram travel adventures, then to scroll down a few rows and be greeted by a shot straight out of the Kim and Kylie play book. I don’t have anything against these people. But for heaven’s sake, be an original. Social media is full of images that make the average woman want to starve herself, or work out until she collapses. How about some real role models, some examples of goals that can actually be attained by the average human being?

Be real.

I’m here to be real. Real women don’t have someone standing around taking professional pictures of them while they’re taking selfies. Do I take selfies? Sure. But chances are good I’m hanging off a rock on some mountain when I do! (See above for proof.) And last time I looked there was no professional photographer following me around, either.

What you see is what you get. Living proof that life can be pretty decent even if you aren’t a millionaire, even if you aren’t running around in a thong in Bali with ten million followers on Instagram waiting for your next post.

Well, that’s about all I have to say right now. My plan is to blog once a week to start. In between writing about things that I feel will be relevant to real people, I’ll also be talking about my books and my travels.

Speaking of traveling, I’m off to Australia tomorrow, my first trip to my sixth continent! By the time this post goes out I should be there. Crossing the International Date Line is always interesting. I’ll completely lose August 2, 2018, never to have it back. But the day I fly home will last a really long time to make up for the loss!

Thanks for reading. Until next time!

Brenda K. Stone is the pen name for Barb Lee, a native of Western Massachusetts who loves to write, travel the world, hike the world, and go to rock concerts. When not engaging in these particular adventures or the several other activities she enjoys that leave her no time for rest, you can find her “doing research” with her nose in a rock and roll biography and her black bunny Gert not far away, probably sleeping.
